Advanced TV services in Europe
The Commission of the European Communities, DG X (Audiovisual, Information, Communication and Culture) has issued a restricted invitation to tender, accelerated procedure (due to budgetary timetable), for a contract to provide technical assistance to the Commission in implementing the programme support actions in the context of the "Action Plan for the Introduction of Advanced Television Services in Europe" (Council Decision of 22.6.1993). Work to be carried out will relate to, among other things, the following subjects (this list is neither exhaustive nor restrictive): - Processing of applications concerning the programmes that are to benefit from Community support under the Action Plan following periodic calls for proposals; - Setting up and maintaining a database and implementation of decisions taken by the Commission. These tasks require a high level of expertise in programme production techniques (including high-definition video) plus excellent knowledge of the European audiovisual scene. The contract will cover an initial period of one year, renewable.
