The European Commission's Environment DG has announced a call to tender for a scientific evaluation of 10 to 15 substances in the context of the endocrine disrupter priority list of actions. The goal of the study is to conduct an in depth evaluation of nine candidate substances for which scientific evidence of endocrine disruption or potential endocrine disruption was identified in the BKH report, and which are neither restricted nor currently being addressed under existing Community legislation. In addition, an in depth evaluation of three synthetic/natural hormones - oestrone, ethinyl oestradiol and oestradiol - shall be carried out, with particular focus on up to date evidence of environmental exposure and related effects of these substances. Specific cases of consumer or ecosystem exposure to these substances, with particular attention to potentially vulnerable consumer groups such as children shall be identified where appropriate. The contract will last six months from the date of signature. For further information, please contact: European Commission Directorate-General Environment Attn Mrs Gail Kent rue de la Loi/Wetstraat 200 B-1049 Brussels Fax +32-2-299 4449 For administrative and financial matters: Tel: +32-2-296 0008 For technical matters: Tel: +32-2-296 8118
