Behind the global success of Israel's high-tech start-ups
In this context, the EU-funded FRUITFUL INSTABILITY (Fruitful instability: The cultural logic of creative practice in Israeli high-technology start-ups) project examined high-tech start-ups and the start-up industry overall to determine what has brought on this successful technological and entrepreneurial innovation. Project partners looked into the daily creative practices of start-ups in the high-tech and information economy sectors and business innovation consultants. They also studied the cultural and structural factors at play. To date, literature on the success of the Israeli start-up scene has not considered these determinants. The FRUITFUL INSTABILITY team carried out ethnographic research at several business innovation consulting groups that offer innovation services to entrepreneurs and that automate and simplify creative procedures in the start-up industry and business world at large. During this fieldwork, data was gathered concerning specific innovation projects. The aim was to explore activities that involve creative problem solving and ideation on a day-to-day basis. Research findings helped to further develop the concept of routinized business innovation and identify associated strategies. These relate to creative practice strategies used by entrepreneurs and the principles and concepts that influence them.
