The monthly journal "Euroabstracts", published by DG XIII of the Commission of the European Communities has been highly commended in the 1993 European Information Association (EIA) Awards for European Information Sources at the London conference of the EIA which took place at the beginning of February 1994. The purpose of the EIA awards is to highlight significant European information sources and to encourage new sources. The EIA is a professional association for people who provide information services with a European dimension. The association has currently around 400 members, which include EU information outlets such as the European documentation Centres and Euro Info Centres, in addition to a variety of public and private organizations. The EIA seeks to be a forum for communication between European information specialists and to improve standards of information provision. "Euroabstracts" provides abstracts of Community RTD publications plus reviews of Community RTD results, policies and activities.
