In making the decision, the Commission stated: 'the combination of facilities, equipment and expertise at one site appears to be genuinely rare in Europe' and added that the centre is highly regarded by leading brain scientists throughout Europe. 'We are very proud that the EU has decided to grant us this important and rare designation,' said Professor Idan Segev, head of the centre. '17 countries have already expressed an interest in sending scientists to our centre. We will be pleased to host the in Israel and to share our research information with our EU colleagues.'
