Call for expressions of interest to organise a European conference on innovation
The European Commission's Enterprise and Industry DG is calling for expressions of interest from local partners wishing to help organise the next European conference on innovation, the Europe INNOVA Conference 2006. Europe INNOVA is an initiative for innovation professionals supported by the European Commission under the Sixth Framework Programme. The Europe INNOVA Conference 2006 will be a two-day event to be held sometime between October and December. The event will represent an opportunity for the European innovation community to get together, get informed and discuss the latest developments in innovation and innovation policy in the EU. The target number of participants is 400, with representatives from industry, public authorities and academia and a good geographical balance. The host would be expected to contribute financially to the organisation of the event (for instance by providing the venue for the conference), to mobilise local resources, to participate in definition of the conference programme and to offer an accompanying social programme. The Commission will contribute financially to support the logistics aspects of the conference through a specialised contractor. In addition, the Europe INNOVA Communications service (a contractor to DG Enterprise) will be fully operational by spring 2006 and will be able to deal with most aspects of the conference programme and provide the overall coordination for the organisation of the event. Expressions of interest should provide information about the: - attractiveness of the host city (hotels, transport, availability of high-level local representatives (business and/or public authorities), innovation poles for visits); - proposed conference venue and facilities (appropriateness, size, availability of rooms for parallel meetings/breakout sessions, etc); - mobilisation of local constituency and press; - social and parallel programmes (guided tours, receptions, dinners, etc.).For further information, please consult the following web address: http://cordis.europa.eu/innovation/en/eoi.htm(opens in new window) Expressions of interest should be sent by e-mail to: Elke Van Tendeloo E-mail: elke.van-tendeloo@cec.eu.int
