Air quality assessment and management
The European Commission has published a proposal for a Council Directive on air quality assessment and management. Although other Directives cover air quality, the objective of this Directive is to establish and balance the quality objectives. The Directive recognizes that the implementation of a wide and comprehensive policy for ambient air quality assessment and management needs to be based on a strong technical and scientific foundation as well as a permanent exchange of views amongst the Member States. The proposal sets out the objectives and scope of the Directive as well as all the measures required to achieve the objectives in each of the Member States.
