On 7-8 July 1994 the European Commission held a meeting in Bratislava to discuss future scientific and technological cooperation with the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. The Commission asked each of the participating countries to identify its priority areas of action for future cooperation under the Community's Fourth Framework Programme. Slovenia's science and technology priorities are as follows: - Information technologies; - Communication technologies; - Materials technologies; - Industrial technologies (manufacturing, process); - Systems and design; - Standardization, measurement and testing; - Natural environment; - Quality of the environment; - Technologies for environmental protection; - Biotechnology; - Biomedical and health research; - Agriculture and fisheries; - Energy; - Transport; - Social and economic issues; - Basic sciences (physics, chemistry, mathematics, etc.).
