Specific RTD programme in the field of telematic systems of general interest
Council Decision 91/353/EEC of 7 June 1991, adopting a specific programme of research and technological development in the field of telematic systems in areas of general interest (1990 to 1994), has now been published in the Official Journal. The programme seeks to contribute to the successful completion of the single market, improving the performance of large public services facing the new technological and social challenges implied by European integration. Objective areas cover: Support for the establishment of trans-European networks between administrations (ENS); transport services (incorporating DRIVE); health care (AIM); flexible and distance learning (DELTA); libraries; linguistic research and engineering (LRE); telematic systems for rural areas (ORA). The programme is adopted for the period 7 June 1991 to 31 December 1994, with an estimated necessary budgetary appropriation of ECU 376.2 million.
