The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a call for tender for the organization of the 1996 European Community Design Prize.

The contractor would take complete responsibility for the organization of the 1996 European Community Design Prize, in close cooperation with Commission services. In particular, the contractor will be required to provide the following services:

- Establishment, in cooperation with Commission services and interested national design promotion centres, of the manual of procedures and rules governing this project;
- Coordination and support to national design promotion bodies participating in the execution of this project;
- Fixing of the timetable of operations;
- Coordination and management of a communication campaign throughout the European Union;
- Collection of the results of both national and European selection procedures;
- Compilation of a European Community Design Prize catalogue;
- Organization of the European award ceremony;
- Organization of an European Community Design Prize exhibition and management of its itinerary (a travelling exhibition would continue into 1997).
