A Decision establishing the second phase of the TEDIS programme (Trade Electronic Data Interchange Systems) (c.f. COM(90) 475, of 7 November 1990) was adopted by the Council on 22 July 1991. With an estimated necessary appropriation of ECU 25 million over the three-year period beginning 1 July 1991, Phase II continues and expands work undertaken in the first phase of the programme (1988-1990). It supports integrated, Community-wide EDI implementation, which is expected to make a vital socio-economic contribution to the internal market. Action areas include: Standardization of EDI messages; EDI telecommunications requirements; legal aspects of EDI; message security; multisectoral and transEuropean projects; analysis of the impact of EDI on business activities; information and dissemination actions.
