Commissioners Bangemann and Cresson meet with representatives of the European multimedia industry
Mrs. Edith Cresson, Commissioner for research, education and training and Mr. Martin Bangemann, Commissioner for industrial affairs, telecommunications and information technologies are to meet with 40 representatives from the European multimedia sector. The meeting will take place on 13 September 1995 in Brussels. It follows a similar meeting with representatives from the automobile sector on 14 June 1995. The group will discuss the development of a European multimedia programme industry in the areas of education and training in light of the objectives pursued by the "multimedia educational software" task force set up by the two Commissioners in order to encourage collaborative projects of industrial interest in this area. The meeting is a result of the Commission's commitment, in setting up six new industry task forces ("Tomorrow's Car", The New Generation Aeroplane", "Vaccinations and Viral Diseases", "Train of the Future", "Intermodality in Transport", Multimedia Educational Software"), to consult with industry and users as widely as possible. These consultations are indispensable in order to define research priorities in each of the areas covered by the task forces.
