Commission Regulation on technology transfer agreements
On 31 January 1996, the European Commission adopted a "Regulation on the application of Article 85(3) of the Treaty to certain categories of technology transfer agreements". The text of this Regulation has now been published in the Official Journal of the European Communities (OJ No L 31 of 09.02.1996 p. 2.). The Regulation, which will come into force on 1 April 1996, is aimed at promoting innovation and technology transfer in the European Union. It will contribute to this goal by substantially simplifying the rules relating to patent licensing agreements, particularly through the harmonization of existing Community legislation in this area.
