Practical guide to copyright for multimedia producers
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published a "Practical guide to copyright for multimedia producers". The guide, which has been produced for the European Commission by the International Audiovisual Authors Association (AIDAA), aims to provide multimedia producers with a practical summary of the broad principles of copyright and copyright management in the European Union. The guide does not seek to give an exhaustive and detailed description of the various national laws of the Member States of the European Union and should not be seen as a legal treatise. It has the limited objective of making producers aware of the problems of copyright, trying to give an account of their complexity, and setting out the principles of its application, illustrated by many practical examples. The second part of the guide provides a compendium of sources of information and authorization and a general introduction to authors' associations.
