Commission adopts Regulation on agricultural production methods and environmental protection
The European Commission has adopted Regulation (EC) No 746/96 of 24 April 1996 laying down detailed rules for the application of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2078/92 on agricultural production methods compatible with the requirements of the protection of the environment and the maintenance of the countryside. The Regulation sets out the conditions in which aid may be granted to farmers, pursuant to Article 2(1) of Council Regulation (EEC) No 2078/92. It establishes the conditions in which land-holdings subject to undertakings in respect of aid may be transferred to third parties. It also contains provisions relating to the monitoring and publicity of the measures in the Member States, as well as penalties applicable in the event of infringement.
