Council resolution on industrial policy in the pharmaceuticals sector
The EU Council of Ministers has adopted a resolution designed to implement the outlines of an industrial policy in the pharmaceutical sector in the European Union. The resolution calls on Member States and the Commission to work towards the achievement of the following objectives: - Reorganization in the pharmaceutical sector to meet new challenges within Community rules; - Continuing high-quality research and innovation in the European pharmaceutical sector; - Increased assistance for SMEs in the pharmaceutical sector; - Full implementation of the internal market in the area of pharmaceuticals; - Promotion of greater transparency in the pharmaceutical market; - Encouragement of competition in the pharmaceutical market; - Increased cooperation with third countries, particularly EU applicant countries; - Improved access to third-country markets for Community pharmaceutical producers.
