Amendment of LIFE Regulation on financial instrument for the environment
The Council of Ministers of the European Union has published the text of its common position on the proposed Council Regulation amending Regulation (EEC) No 1973/92 establishing a financial instrument for the environment (LIFE). The Council introduced amendments concerning the difference in approach to the participation of third countries and associated countries. The Council also changed the dates for the submission and selection of projects to 31 January and 31 July respectively. The Council felt that the proposed budget of ECU 450 million could not be increased at this time, but introduced the possibility of revising this before 31 December 1997.
