The Cooperative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-Range Transmission of Air Pollutants (EMEP) was set up in 1977 in order to secure the consistent and long-term monitoring of air pollution in relation to internationally agreed control measures in Europe. An EMEP station was established by the Environment Institute of the Joint Research Centre to ensure active participation in this programme. The JRC has now published an Annual Report detailing the activities of the JRC EMEP station during 1995. It provides a general overview of air pollution monitoring at the station and examines in particular the EMEP measurement programme, its sampling and analytical techniques, data evaluation, and an overview of the pollutants measured during 1995 in air, atmospheric particulate material and precipitation.
