The Joint Research Centre has published the 1996 annual report for the EMEP air pollution monitoring station at its site in Ispra, Italy. The Cooperative Programme for Monitoring and Evaluation of the Long-range Transmission of Air Pollutants in Europe (EMEP) was established in 1977. The JRC hosts one of 127 measurement sites in the EMEP programme, which now covers some 27 European countries. The annual report includes all the data collected at the Ispra site in 1996, as follows: - SO2, NO2, O3 and CO in air; - SO4, NO3, NH4, CI, SPM, acidity and heavy metals in atmospheric particulate material; - SO4, NO3, NH4, CI, Ma, K, Ca, Mg, pH, electrical conductivity and acidity in atmospheric precipitation; - Data on all meteorological parameters which may have an effect on the measurements recorded.
