Telematics training for SMEs in the publishing sector
The European Commission, DG XIII, has published an invitation to tender for a training system for SMEs in the publishing sector to develop skills in the field of telematics technology. Under the INFO2000 programme, special attention is given to changes occurring within the publishing sector. The latest technology is having a revolutionary effect on the development of advanced electronic information products and telematics applications. To face the challenge, new skills are essential for the development of quality telematics technology. To aid SMEs involved in the publishing sector to provide telematics training for their staff through selective and continuous training, it is vital that the infrastructure for the transfer of such knowledge be available. In this respect, the Commission intends to launch a pilot action and is seeking a contractor who, operating jointly with professional associations, SMEs and vocational training specialists in the sector, will be in a position to develop and test appropriate training methods. The project is divided into four parts: - Evaluation of the level of skill required by telematics product design in the publishing industry; - Development of the training methods and hands-on experiments; - Production of a reference manual for the instructor and materials for trainees; - Evaluation and final report, including recommendations for dissemination.
