The mitigation of volcanic hazards
The European Commission, DG XII, has published the proceedings of course on "The mitigation of volcanic hazards", organized by the European School of Climatology and Natural Hazards in June 1994. The course covered the full range of topics in volcanology: - Volcanic activity and products; - Geophysical and geochemical monitoring of volcanoes; - Simulation of volcanic eruptions; - Case histories of eruptions with emphasis on the civil protection aspects, including the health aspects of volcanic activity. The book of proceedings contains the texts of the lectures as well as a number of presentations made by students at the course. The European School of Climatology and Natural Hazards is part of the training and education activities of the specific RTD programme in the field of Environment and Climate.
