Figures for July 1996 show that accesses to the Commission's I'M-EUROPE World Wide Web server have grown by over 45% since the same month last year, with the server attracting in excess of 200,000 accesses per month. The I'M-EUROPE server provides information on the actions of DG XIII of the European Commission in stimulating the European electronic information services market and multimedia content industries. The most frequently accessed site on the server is that of the INFO2000 programme for the stimulation of the European multimedia content industry. Other popular sections include: - The European Commission Host Organization (ECHO) which offers access to over 20 databases free of charge (of which the CORDIS databases); - The Legal Advisory Board; - The Telematics Applications programme; - The "Multimedia Educational Software" Task Force. Programme sites on I'M-EUROPE provide a variety of information, including typically: official programme information, calls for proposals, supporting documentation, project synopses, news and announcements. The success of the I'M-EUROPE server goes beyond the borders of Europe. Over 10,000 sites have established hyper links to the server and document accesses from outside the EU, during the month of July, accounted for over 40% of total accesses.
