Infeuro - Information newsletter on the euro
The European Commission has published the first edition of a newsletter entitled "Infeuro" which is dedicated to following developments relating to the introduction of the single European currency. Infeuro, which will be published every two months by the European Commission, aims to provide readers with regular updates on the preparations for the changeover to the euro. The newsletter will cover technical and legislative developments at both EU and Member State level. In addition, Infeuro will highlight developments in individual public administrations, banks and companies, in order to disseminate examples of best practice and find common responses to common problems. The first issue contains an introduction from Yves-Thibault de Silguy, Commissioner responsible for economic, financial and monetary affairs, and details of the preparations for the Dublin European Council. A timetable for the changeover sets out the important dates in the process and there is advice for companies on how to prepare for the changeover. Other articles look at the information actions being undertaken, by the Community and national administrations, to prepare the public for the introduction of a single European currency. In addition, there is a listing of forthcoming events and publications relevant to the changeover process.
