Ten HPCN (High Performance Computing and Networking) Technology Transfer Nodes have been selected for contract negotiations as a result of the March 1996 call for proposals under the Community's strategic programme for RTD in Information Technologies (ESPRIT). The role of the HPCN Technology Transfer Nodes (TTNs) is to coordinate clusters of HPCN preparatory and support and transfer (PST) activities accepted for funding under the ESPRIT programme. The work of a TTN involves facilitating access to the actions by newcomers, attracting complementary funding, and facilitating the exchange of experience and expertise between participants in the actions and between TTNs at a European level. TTNs are also responsible for coordinating and executing the dissemination of results within clusters and across the network of TTNs. Finally, they may also provide services of common interest and use for participants in actions. The ten TTNs so far selected are: - TTN-T: TZM, Transferzentrum Microelektronik (D); - TTNMV-SF: ATU, Finnish Automation Support (SF); - TTN: GMD, Forschungszentrum, Informationstechnik (D); - ENTICE: EPCC, University of Edinburgh (UK); - INNO: NTUA, National Technical University of Athens (GR); - CAPRICE: DLR, Deutsche Forschungsanstalt für Luft und Raumfart (D); - FINNOVA: CSC, Centre for Scientific Computing (SF); - NOT SO MAD: ENEA (I); - HIPERTTN: Labein (E, F, GR, P); - ATTN: VPCC, European Centre for Parallel Computing Vienna (A); The nodes will stimulate technology transfer and disseminate results within and across HPCN Preparatory, Support and Transfer (PST) activities. These activities include awareness creation campaigns, assessments, demonstrations and best practise actions, and are associated with tasks 6.21 to 6.24 of the ESPRIT work programme.
