The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation is organizing the "Challenge towards world class manufacturing" programme, to be held from 7 to 18 April 1997, in Tokyo, Japan. The programme will give managers from European companies a short period in Japan to learn about Japanese management practices. The EU-Japan Challenge is aimed at managers from European industrial companies intending to play a key role in the Japanese market. They should have around ten years professional experience in industry, and have a good command of English. The programme aims to give European companies a better understanding of KAIZEN (incremental improvement), TPM (total productive maintenance) and TQM (total quality management) practices, in order to assist in improving productivity and quality, and in enhancing customer satisfaction. The EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation will cover costs directly related to the programme but participants' companies will be required to cover travel costs to and from Japan and living expenses in Tokyo.
