Standards, measurements and testing - Project synopses
The European Commission, DG XII, has published a book of synopses of projects funded under the Measurements and Testing programme (Third Framework Programme) and the Standards, Measurements and Testing programme (Fourth Framework Programme) up to 1996. The book includes summaries of 223 projects funded by the two programmes. The aim of the projects was to improve, or develop, methods of measurement and testing in order to enhance the competitiveness of European industry and to support the development and the implementation of Community policies. These projects cover the full spectrum of physical, chemical and biological measurements and testing in a wide range of different areas relating to the needs of industry, food and agriculture, environmental monitoring, health and safety in the work place, health care, customs, the justice system and the protection of cultural heritage. Many of the projects will contribute to the development or the improvement of European standards, while others will lead to the development of certified reference materials. The book contains details of the consortia carrying out the projects, the objectives of the projects and, where appropriate, information on the results. For each project, contact details are given for the project coordinator.
