Support for scientists from Central and Eastern Europe and the NIS
The European Commission, DG XII, has published a notice concerning support available to scientists from Central and Eastern Europe (CEECs) and the newly independent States of the former Soviet Union (NIS), in order to allow them to participate in European seminars, conferences, colloquia and workshops. The Commission wishes to draw the attention of those interested to the fact that, as part of the accompanying measures for the cooperation programmes on research and technological development, a scheme has been created which is aimed, among other things, at promoting the mobility of scientists and providing an additional instrument for scientific cooperation. The scheme will include the payment of a grant, to cover travel and subsistence expenses, to enable scientists from the CEECs and the NIS to participate in seminars, conferences, colloquia and workshops taking place in Europe. The subject of the event must be among the areas covered by the Community's Fourth Framework Programme.
