The European Commission, DG XII, has published a notice requesting applications for the post of head of unit dealing with nuclear technology in DG XII.

The post is open to nationals of the EU Member States, born after 8 April 1946, with at least 15 years experience in the field of nuclear technology, in particular the manufacture of nuclear fuels.

The post-holder will be responsible for the following activities, relating to the EU's science and technology policy and the RTD Framework Programme:

- Managing and coordinating activities in laboratories for the manufacture of nuclear fuels - both traditional (such as UO2, MOX, nitrides) and prototypes containing various concentrations of minor actinides;
- Assisting in the development of new manufacturing processes (such as sol-gel) and new equipment as part of the Minor Actinides Laboratory project;
- Acting as one of the main contacts for a variety of competitive activities and large-scale international collaborative activities.
