Innovative system for testing magnetic properties

Under the auspices of the DIELECTROMAGNETICS project researchers developed a new, unique system for testing the magnetic properties of materials at high frequencies and under rotating magnetic fields.

The ever growing interest for miniaturisation of electronic devices has brought new needs on the development of advanced, high performance materials. Most importantly, small magnetic components involving dielectromagnetic technologies are of particular importance to many industrial fields due to the manufacturing, environmental and technical benefits involved. Compared to the conventionally used sheet magnetic parts, dielectromagnetic based components are less demanding on materials usage, more energy-efficient and recyclable at the end of their life. Yet, there are certain practical problems in their design on which the DIELECTROMAGNETICS project focused. For the purposes of this project, a new, more accurate and practical system for the properties of dielectromagnetic composite materials was generated. The so-called MAG-TD200 computerised system offers increased capabilities for a completely testing process of testing the magnetic properties of materials. More specifically, it allows for the measurement of magnetic properties in a broad range of frequencies up to 2000Hz and up to 200Hz for alternating and rotating fields respectively. The MAG TD200 is highly flexible and provides magnetic measurements not only of powder composites, but also of other magnetic materials, such as nanocomposites, electrical sheets and other soft magnetic materials. It was shown that this universal system features very high accuracy in a wide range of applications. Moreover, it can be easily adjusted to be employed in other fields of magnetic research. The MAG TD200 system is offered for further collaborations with partners interested in exploiting this breakthrough technology.
