E-CORE Workshop "Getting ready for FP6 - Brokerage Event for Construction R&D" - Brussels Thursday 3- Friday 4 October 2002
- Information Society Technologies ,- Nanotechnologies, Intelligent Materials and New Production Process ,- Sustainable Development In particular, the event will seek to provide a platform for establishing contacts with other key players in the field of construction research. Pooling on the Expressions of Interest submitted earlier in 2002 and new project ideas, this workshop will provide an opportunity to develop the final composition of the consortia for projects and networks. By bringing together all parties interested in European construction RTD, the search for partners will be facilitated and improved, as the event allows establishing personal contact with representatives of organisations from all over Europe. The central part of the workshop will be debates in groups among potential project co-ordinators under the guidance of facilitators teams. These groups will be composed around a central theme, this way ensuring interesting discussions and making sure that people, interested in related topics, will be able to make contact. - The programme of the morning session will include keynotes by Scientific Officers from the three priority themes along with a presentation of opportunities and new features for SMEs. ,- These presentations will be followed by a status report about the Expressions of Interest for Networks of Excellence and Integrated Projects in the field of construction Research. ,- The afternoon session and the second day will be dedicated to Round table discussions around proposals for Networks of Excellence and Integrated Projects. Because the preparation of a proposal for one of these new instruments will require a lot of effort and a well-balanced consortium, the EC launched early in 2002 a call for Expressions of Interest. The EoIs were due to be submitted before the 7th of June 2002. It seems now that the response to this call for EoIs was overwhelming, more than 15000 proposals were submitted. Immediately after the submission deadline, E-CORE started to collect the EoIs for Integrated Projects and Networks of Excellence on construction related topics for several reasons: - People interested in construction related topics can find out very easily on which issues EoIs have been submitted. If they are interested in participating in a project or network, they can contact the right people immediately. ,- Organisations who submitted EoIs on a similar topic will know about the other proposals, which will allow them to contact each other early in the project development phase. This way, they can rather than to compete co-operate and re-work their proposals so that they are complementary or they can integrate the different EoIs into a single proposal. ,- By giving people the possibility to comment on the published EoIs, the writers of the proposal can get feedback from other organisations on their EoI. This way, they will be able to improve the final proposal for the Integrated Project of Network of Excellence, which will increase the chance on a successful evaluation. In short, by publishing the EoIs on the E-CORE website, E-CORE wishes to increase the number of construction related projects in FP6. Organisations who have introduced an EoI are kindly invited to publish also their proposal on the E-CORE website. Please visit http://www.e-core.org(öffnet in neuem Fenster) http://www.e-core.org/eoi(öffnet in neuem Fenster) and http://forum.e-core.org(öffnet in neuem Fenster) to review the present list of EoIs. The E-CORE workshop due to be organized on the 3rd and 4th October 2002 aims at supporting the above mentioned efforts.
