Advanced Knowledge technologies: A Workshop at KM Europe 2002
In the next ten years we will be handling terabytes of digital content, at work, on the move and at home. Advanced knowledge systems promise to bring new levels of information handling to cut through the data deluge, helping to turn data and information into knowledge. This workshop focuses on semantic-based information systems from three angles: the technology, the business / user needs and future research prospects. The expert speakers will address these issues, and look at several hard questions: What are the current promises (hype and reality) of smart Web technology? What will the Semantic Web mean for companies? How can Web services develop in future? Where will be the business and usage drivers? The workshop will also present European perspectives for collaborative research in the coming IST programme 2002-2006. ,PROGRAMME: 11h00 Franco Mastroddi, European Commission.
