Online Educa The Worlds E-Learning Experts meet in Berlin

8th Online Educa Berlin Conference from November 27th to 29th, 2002

The 8th Online Educa Berlin, the International Conference and Trade Exhibition for Technology Supported Education and Training, is taking place from November 27 - 29, 2002 at the Hotel Inter-Continental Berlin. Annually, approximately 1200 international experts from business, industry, higher education and public and private training institutions from over 60 countries use the venue of what has become the worlds largest international e-learning conference to exchange experiences and establish and maintain valuable contacts. Keynote Presentations from Hans Ulrich Maerki, Chairperson of IBM EMEA, Prof. Soumitra Dutta, Director of the INSEAD e-Lab Paris, and Jef Staes of the Siemens Learning Valley Belux, will officially open the conference on Thursday 28th. Friday's Plenary Sessions will include Keynote presentations from Prof. Gabriel Ferrate of the Open University Catalunya and Prof. Oleg Liber from Bolton Institute in the UK. An Industry Round-Table on Friday will include leading e-learning specialists from Sun, IBM, Cisco and Nokia. Parallel Presentation and Panel Discussion Sessions will take place throughout Thursday and Friday on a wide range of subjects including E-Learning Policy and Implementation, Choosing Educational Technologies, Producing E-Learning Material and Resources, Knowledge Management, Supporting Successful E-Learning Strategies in Companies, Innovative Virtual University models and Opportunities for Worldwide Collaboration. There will also be a specific session dedicated to the European Commission's 6th Framework Research Programme and the opportunities it provides for the European e-learning community as well as a showcase of some of the leading projects currently supported by the European Commission's IST programme in the area of Education and Training. Further to the conference agenda on the November 28th and 29th, an exciting programme of 14 specialist Pre-conference Workshops will take place on Wednesday, November 27th, 2002. These optional workshops offer participants an intensive introduction to conference topics as well as vital hands-on opportunities to gain practical knowledge and insights from leading experts. Online Educa Berlin is accompanied by a trade exhibition in which international manufacturers and providers of learning-platforms, CBT and WBT, education and training programmes, e-learning projects, as well as multimedia publishers and network operators will present and demonstrate the latest trends and products in the field. Online Educa Berlin is being held under the patronage of Mr. Wolfgang Clement, the German Federal Minister for Economics and Employment, and is supported by the European Commission (Information Society and Education and Culture Directorate Generals).
