Ten guest passes for biotechnology-congress BioTrends LifeScience meets Nano

To participate in the contest, prospects may visit the website and answer the following question: What is the slogan of the congress BioTrends?,http://www.biotrends.de/biotrends/game/winaticket.html Nanotechnology brings new perspectives to the Pharmaceutical and Biotech industry: The technology of miniature systems becomes increasingly important in the areas of analysis and diagnostics. The main focus of the BioTrends congress will be the newest technological developments and their practical applications. Main topics are Nanobiotechnology, DNA and Protein-Arrays and Bioinformatics. The congress starts with an overview on Nanobiotechnology. Prof. Dr. Claus-Michael Lehr, Department of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Saarbrücken will chair the session. Expert representatives from highly respected institutions and companies such as Aventis GmbH, Schering AG, und Nanosolutions GmbH will give presentations. The afternoon of the first day will focus on chances and challenges of DNA-Arrays a technology already in use. Robert Ellis, Executive Vice President for Research and Development of the American company Affymetrix Inc. will give a key-note-presentation on Whole Genome Analysis on a Chip. The promising sector of Protein-Arrays will be the focus of presentations on the second day.What is the current status, which applications were successful, which developments are expected? Expert representatives Dr. Peter Wagner, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer, Zyomyx Inc., Hayward, USA, Dolores J. Cahill of Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Genetics, Berlin, as well as Dr. Markus Ehrat, CEO, Zeptosens AG, Witterswill, Switzerland, will answer these questions. Another focus of the event will be on break through developments in the areas of Microfluidics and Lab-on-a-chip. An introductory workshop on February 11th will concentrate oninvestment opportunities, investment risks of Nanobiotechnology as well as Intellectual Property Rights. The event will be accompanied by a technology forum, featuring live presentations of vendors. In addition, products and solutions will be exhibited. Innovative projects in the Nanobiotechnology field will be honoured with the BioTrends-Award.
