MASTER and MODA-TEL, two IST projects dealing with MDA, meet to exchange results and find collaboration opportunities.

MASTER and MODA-TEL are IST projects working on validating and applying MDA to software development in Air Traffic Management and Telecommunications domains respectively. Both projects held a meeting to exchange results, discuss on MDA and find collaboration opportunities. Main agreements are to maintain collaboration, to work on a joint methodology and to organise a workshop on MDA on March 2004.

MASTER and MODA-TEL are two IST projects which are working on validating and applying the MDA (Model Driven Architecture) approach to software systems development in the Air Traffic Management and Telecommunications domains respectively. The objective of MASTER (Model driven Architecture inSTrumentation, Enhancement and Refinement) is to perform an early validation of the concept of MDA (Model Driven Architecture) which is currently being promoted by the OMG (Object Management Group). The validation consists in an experimental approach. MDA concepts are developed and applied in the Air Traffic Management (ATM) domain. MASTER information can be found at http://www.esi.es/Master(öffnet in neuem Fenster). The objective of MODA-TEL (Model Driven Architectures for Telecommunications System Development and Operation) is to provide the industry with the methodology and tools to apply model driven architectures and related technologies and to contribute to industrial standardisation bodies in order to obtain standards suitable for telecommunications applications. MODA-TEL information can be found at http://www.modatel.org(öffnet in neuem Fenster). Both projects held a joint meeting in Bilbao on May 21st 2003 to exchange results, discuss on MDA technology, and find further collaboration opportunities. During the meeting, both projects explain their approach with respect to MDA and openly present the information on current results. The discussion was fruitful and the mechanisms to continue the collaboration between both projects have been established. This collaboration will be visibly materialised in:,- A joint Model Driven Architecture methodology, based on the current MODA-TEL methodology, improved with inputs from MASTER technical developments, and finally completed with the experimentation results of both projects. ,- The organisation of a public workshop on MDA on March 2004. The objective is to address the application of MDA from an industrial perspective. MASTER and MODA-TEL will take the opportunity to disseminate their project results and a public call for papers will be issued by the end of June 2003. This workshop will be also announced in CORDIS Wire. Part of the presentations delivered during the joint meeting can be found in the Public Documents section of MASTER website, under Dissemination Material.
