European Project "Implementation of Safety and Health in Entrepreneurship-Education" successfully started in January

Stuttgart, Germany: The Innovation and Bildung Hohenheim GmbH, Germany and SPICRE SL, Spain, started their project 'Implementation of Safety and Health in Entrepreneurship-Education' in January 2003. The project is concerned with safety and health at laboratory workplaces and workplaces in offices, meaning workstations.

Safety and Healthy at work is a theme every entrepreneur is concerned with and especially start-ups should engaged in. This January the project 'Implementation of Safety and Health in Entrepreneurship-Education' has started. It is supported by the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work (http://osha.eu.int(öffnet in neuem Fenster)) and carried out by the Innovation and Bildung Hohenheim GmbH, Germany and SPICRE SL, Spain. The European Union supports the implementation of high and consistent standards of safety and health at work for enterprises in all EU member states. The aim is to rise the attractivity of small and medium-sized enterprises and to strenghten their competitiveness. The project will take another three months until the end of september 2003. Objectives,The project aims at the rise of awareness for safety and health at work- in particular at the stage of the foundation of an enterprise and in the course of entrepreneurial training. It targets to support and enhance standards for safety and health in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SME). The long term goal is therefore the rise of productivity caused by improved working conditions. The project adresses entrepreneurs of SMEs as well as entrepreneurs and students concerned with entrepreneurship. Approach,The project is particularly concerned with safety and health at laboratory workplaces and workplaces in offices, meaning workstations. Each partner of the project developed one training module concerned with safety and health at workplaces. Each module is held at different locations in Germany and Spain. In addition to the implementation of the modules, a website with important information on the project and international links concerning safety and health at work is provided. It also contains checklists and papers as well as contact data of relevant organisations concerned with the subject and therefore serves as a platform to build up a network. All information are available at http://www.sh-ee-org.Project Coordination,The Project leader, the Innovation und Bildung Hohenheim GmbH (IBH), Germany, was founded in 1999 and is fully owned by the University of Hohenheim. The IBH offers services for national and international projects just like services for start-ups including evaluation of business ideas, coaching, education and the providing of networking resources. Up to now the IBH supported 80 start-ups covering 140 entrepreneurs. SPICRE SL, Spain, project partner of the IBH, is a consulting firm specialising in start-up support. SPICRE SL is partner of the IDEAS programm of the Universtiy of Valencia, Spain and since 1997 it consulted and supported over 100 entrepreneurs.
