New Funding For Canadian Researchers in FP6 Health Research Consortia
The Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) has introduced an International Opportunities Program (IOP) to:,- fund Canadians in their pursuit of international health research partnerships, and ,- fund the Canadian elements of international collaborative health research projects, for example within FP6. The C$1 million 1 year pilot IOP will accept proposals until February, 2004, and will provide funding to successful proposals within 4-8 weeks. The Development and Planning Grants, to facilitate the creation of partnerships, are worth a maximum of $25K. The Collaborative Research Grants, worth up to $100K, must form part of an application submitted to an international research project being funded by a foreign funder, such as the EU 6th Framework Program. These Collaborative Research Grants will not be subject to a Canadian peer review. For more information, click here(si apre in una nuova finestra). CIHR recognizes the important role that international collaborations play in improving and advancing the health of Canadians and citizens around the world. As a result, CIHR wishes, through the IOP, to encourage Canadian researchers to collaborate internationally in CIHR and the Institutes' priority areas of health research. The one-time grants available will enable Canadian researchers to develop new international collaborations and to participate on major international research projects, gain access to cutting edge research and technologies that are not currently available in Canada, and position CIHR as an international player in health research.
