The European Commission's Joint Research Centre has published an invitation to tender concerning the development and marketing of earth observation (EO) products. The tender falls within the user support component of the Centre for Earth Observation (CEO) programme. The CEO programme of the European Commission aims at stimulating the use of earth observation data and at enhancing Europe-wide communication in the production and exchange of information and data between earth observation service providers and users. The CEO is now in its design and implementation phase, which will run from 1996 to 1998. Proposals for EO Product Development and Marketing shall: - Build upon previous market assessment work such as undertaken in the CEO customer segment workshops. The objective is to develop and provide users with EO-derived products or services that will meet their information needs in specific professional tasks; - Include a development of a product or service based on a market analysis. This will build upon previous development and/or production by the contractor and should include a certain degree of tailoring focused on a specified customer and his professional tasks. As part of the contract, the contractor: - Will set out a marketing plan for the product or service; - Must be able to demonstrate the new product or service and produce a plan for the promotion activities. The contract should be completed before the end of 1998. Tender documents can be obtained from: European Commission Joint Research Centre Mr. P.
