Slovenia a new ICT Partner in the Union

Together towards a knowledge-based European Economy. The Slovenian Business & Research Association is inviting you to their event on 8 July 2004 in Brussels.

8 Luglio 2004 - 8 Luglio 2004
Belgium
Slovenia is one of the front runners in ICT among the 10 new EU members. It is economically the most advanced in the group, and generally considered as the best prepared for the Single Market. However, being a new and relatively small country, Slovenia benefited so far from limited foreign direct investment (about 3.5 billion EUR the highest per capita in the group) which is expected to increase dramatically in the years to come. Thanks to incentives introduced by the 2004-2005 FDI Grant Scheme, and other provisions of the Foreign Investment Law, the Slovenian ICT sector will probably be among the leading sectors to offer to European partners many attractive business opportunities. The ICT spending per capita in Slovenia has reached more than 2/3 of the European average, and annual local sales of ICT companies reached around 2.5 billion . Attached you will find more information on the Slovenian ICT sector.
By attempting to achieve a knowledge-based higher competitiveness in line with the Lisbon Strategy, through enhanced support mechanisms offered to companies by the European Commission, and with Slovenian traditional ties with Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe, the ICT area shall provide great potential for European and Slovenian business and R&D. A catalogue of Slovenian companies already registered for the event is herewith attached.
In this context - together with the Slovenian Ministry for Information Society, Ministry of Economy, Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia - SBRA is organizing a business conference with the following features:
,1. Conference Aims and Objectives: presentation of applied and newly developed ICT technologies in Slovenian companies and research institutes to their potential EU partners with a view to facilitate and broaden their business contacts and encourage more cooperation, in the form of technology transfer, joint R&D, investment, and joint marketing on third markets.
2. Profile of Participants: senior representatives of: Slovenian and other European ICT companies and research institutions, relevant European associations and EU institutions (Directorate-General for Enterprise, Information Society and Research of the European Commission, European Parliament, Council, CORDIS, EIC, IRC networks, etc.). The total number of participants expected is between 120 150.
3. The conference program is divided into three parts: (I.) general presentation of EU policies and Slovenian ICT sector, (II.) presentation of Slovenian ICT products and technologies, and (III.) private meetings among European and Slovenian participants to be organized in the conference premises. Besides, European participants will be briefed on FDI regime in Slovenia, while Slovenian participants will be briefed on some European programs.
Slovenian participants sometimes together with their European partners will also receive free ½ hour briefing by experts from TESEO consulting company (in the framework of the EU funded PATENT project) on how to prepare a successful submission for the relevant European programs in the ICT area.
General information about the conference including the catalogue of participating Slovenian companies - is also accessible on our website: http://www.sbra.be(si apre in una nuova finestra)
