Thinking across disciplines - shaping our future welfare together

International conference “Thinking across disciplines - shaping our future welfare together” will address the key challenges facing European R&D and innovation.

6 Oktober 2009
Austria
The one-day international conference will bring together a multidisciplinary community of experts in policy, private sector and academia. The discussion will focus on finding the most effective approach for Europe in order to confront the major challenges in today’s society as well as to look at the best policy agenda needed to achieve the best strategic European R&D in the future.

The conference will be divided into two parts, first of which is a plenary session that focuses on how innovation can secure welfare and create more jobs in Europe. A discussion of the key challenges for Europe's competitiveness will follow.

The second part of the conference will explore some of the formative roles played by the social sciences and the humanities in addressing the key challenges to global research. In the six parallel sessions, the contribution of social sciences and humanities to other scientific disciplines will be explored.
