The eighth international workshop on low-temperature detectors will be held in Dalfsen, The Netherlands, between 15 and 20 August 1999.

The objective of the workshop is to provide an international forum for discussing recent research and development achievements in the field of cryogenic radiation and particle detectors.

It is the eight in a series of bi-annual meetings bringing together scientists working on applications in the field of dark-matter research, neutrino physics, X-ray astrophysics and infrared/sub-mm astronomy.

The workshop will have plenary meetings with oral invited and contributed papers, as well as poster sessions; however, there will be no parallel sessions.

The main topics to be addressed by the workshop are:

- Cryogenic detector developments: including device physics, experimental achievements, fabrication technology, read-out techniques and cryogenic cooling;
- Applications in the field of dark-matter research, neutrino physics and astronomy: including descriptions of instrumentation, as well as performance parameters and initial results obtained;
- Spin-off areas include applications in the field of x-ray microanalysis, mass spectroscopy of large molecules, synchrotron research, and electron ion physics.

The conference organiser, the European Space Agency (ESA), has announced a first call for papers to be selected on the basis of abstracts of 300-500 words.
