Coordination of Complex Projects Workshop in Karlsruhe - Germany

The training centre (FTU) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) offers a workshop on ‘Coordination of Complex Projects’ in Karlsruhe on 4 October 2010.

Many scientific projects are very complex and require a special know-how. People involved in complex projects must have a good understanding and knowledge of the state-of-the-art project management tools and coordination methodologies.

The following topics will be covered
• Special requirements of complex projects: Examples from R&D projects
• Definition of project goals
• Importance of feasibility studies
• Project life cycle of R&D projects
• Importance of project reviews
• Project management & coordination tools
- Work breakdown structure and work package definitions
- Development philosophy and strategy
- Make-or-buy policy
- Cost projection and margins for uncertainties
- Earned value concept
- Communication and information system
• Project Management Office (PMO)

The aim of the workshop is to provide the necessary knowledge and skills as required by project managers and project staff of complex projects.

It is designed for research managers and administrators, scientists, engineers, technical and administrative staff involved in projects and limited to 12 participants in order to ensure a high quality standard.




Lectur is given by Prof. Dr. Bernd Madauss
