Foresight on Future Demand for Forest-based Products and Services: Workshop on Scenario Building located in Barcelona -Spain

This workshop is a follow-up of the workshop arranged in Vienna in September 2010 inviting experts from forest sector and related sectors with experience on foresight exercises. There will be an internet-based information and perceptions collection in November – December assessing and testing the Vienna workshop results and collecting additional information on trends, drivers, change factors and emerging issues. All this information will feed into the Barcelona workshop on scenario building.
The 1.5-day workshop is structured with key notes and interactive sessions. The workshop will introduce scenario building methods and tools, expertise and practices gathered already, as well as inclusive also interactive working sessions further elaborating the material collected in the Vienna workshop and the internet survey. The aim of the scenario workshop is to produce three to four scenarios (up to year 2050) for the demand for forest products and services. The outcome of the workshop will be opened for feedback from a wide range of stakeholders in a second round of internet-based sessions in March-April 2011. Project will result definition of future research orientations and the information gathered will be available for further exercises. Results will be disseminated to policy and decision makers in two conferences in the autumn 2011.
The workshop in Barcelona is on invitation only, but the internet-based sessions are targeted to a wide audience and representatives of research, business, NGOs as well as policy and decision making.
