PAERIP seminar on Africa-Europe research infrastructures

Organised by ACU with the support of DST and Sigma Orionis, the next PAERIP workshop is taking place on October 17, 2012 at the prestigious South African House in London’s Trafalgar Square.

17 Ottobre 2012 - 17 Ottobre 2012
United Kingdom
The event will focus on Africa-Europe collaboration in establishing new research infrastructures, including through African participation in the planned European infrastructures prioritised in the ESFRI roadmap. The socio-economic impact of research infrastructures in the context of bi-regional cooperation will also be analysed, including the resultant funding opportunities, which could be leveraged from Africa-EU development cooperation instruments.

A draft seminar programme can be found at this link: http://www.paerip.org/sites/www.paerip.org/files/PAERIP%20research%20infrastructures%20seminar%202012-10-17%20agenda%20v1.pdf(si apre in una nuova finestra)

Confirmed key speakers to date include Professor John Wood, former chair of ESFRI and secretary general of the Association of Commonwealth Universities; Dr Elena Righi-Steele, Research Infrastructure Programme Officer, European Commission; and Dr Ndumiso Cingo, head of the African laser centre.

The consortium invites and encourages the participation of all interested parties. Participation is free although the consortium reserves the right to select participants if space becomes limiting. Lunch and refreshments will be provided. We ask that those interested in participating kindly complete a registration form which can be found at this link: http://store.sigma-orionis.com/login?conferenceid=57(si apre in una nuova finestra).

Interested parties from Africa are strongly encouraged to consider participation. A limited number of travel grants will be made available by the PAERIP project for potential participants from Africa. Grants will be available on a competitive basis while optimising the distribution between countries. Participants from Africa are requested to indicate on the registration form if they have a need for such a grant.
