1st BIOSTRUCT-X Mediterranean Macromolecular Crystallography Workshop

BIOSTRUC-X is a project funded by the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) of the European Commission that establishes a state‐of‐the‐art coordinated and multi‐site infrastructure to support access for established and emerging key methods in structural biology. Eleven facilities from across Europe provide 42 installations for applications in small angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS), macromolecular X‐ray crystallography (MX) biological X ray imaging (XI) protein production and high throughput crystallisation (PP & HTX).
The aim of the project is to provide a consolidated platform that brings together all relevant methods in structural biology – creating a single gateway to Europe’s leading European synchrotron facilities and associated infrastructures, ultimately to the benefit of the overall user community.
The Technion Center for Structural Biology (TCSB) is hosting this workshop jointly with the BIOSTRUCT-X Team and the Weizmann Institute of Science.
This workshop will introduce researchers in the field of macromolecular crystallography to data collection and data processing, experimental phasing (SAD, MAR), structure refinement and analysis. The workshop will consist of a combination of lectures and practical hands-on tutorials, including data collection from our state of the art Rigaku FR-X diffractometer.
The modern infrastructure for macromolecular X-ray crystallography and protein characterization at the Technion Center for Structural Biology (TCSB) will be available for workshop participants through the workshop.
