The European congress on biogerontology 'Ageing and individual life history' will take place from 30 November to 3 December in Noordwijkerhout, the Netherlands.

The conference focuses on understanding the determinants of the ageing of animals and humans in relation to individual life history. A key question for the event is how variation in the traits that make up a life history affect individual health and the ageing of the population. Research linking early developmental events and processes to the biology of ageing, including neuroendocrine, metabolic, epigenetic and other traits influencing the ageing process and health in later life, are especially of interest.

New strategies that incorporate the full life history and allow for parallel investigations of traits in humans and animal models will be discussed. In this context, the use of new tools in ageing research, such as bioinformatic analysis and statistical modelling of high dimensional data, will also be covered.

This conference is supported by the EU-funded LIFESPAN and LINK-AGE projects. For further information, please visit:
