THERMIE symposium on efficient transport systems in urban areas

A symposium entitled "Towards efficient transport systems in urban areas" will take place during this year's THERMIE exhibition, which is being held on 19-24 September 1994 in Berlin. It is organized by the European Commission (DG XVII).
The symposium, which will take place on 22 September, will examine how public transport can profit from increased competition and technological innovation.
The following topics will be examined:
- Contractual relations between authorities and operators;
- National and urban initiatives towards public transport;
- EC instruments for the development of public transport;
- The THERMIE programme: instruments and objectives.
