An event entitled 'Magnetoelectric phenomena and devices' will take place from 24 to 25 September 2012 in London, UK.

In the last decade has there been an explosion of activity into materials and devices that interconvert magnetic and electrical signals. The magnetoelectric coupling required for this may arise in a single material or at the interface between two materials. Existing magnetoelectric materials having metallic or ceramic magnetostrictive materials and ceramic piezoelectric materials may be limited to a few kilohertz due to the presence of eddy-current losses in the metallic magnetostrictive phase. These materials may also be difficult to machine and fabricate due to their brittleness.

The event will bring together scientists and researchers to discuss bulk samples, thin films and other devices as well as recent finding and development in this field. For further information, please visit: http://royalsociety.org/events/2012/magnetoelectric-effect/
