The Welsh Development Agency and the Welsh Office are organizing a two-day conference on "Transport telematics" in West Glamorgan, Wales, on 5-6 July 1995.
Transport telematics integrates information technology and telecommunications to provide a host of new possibilities, including integrated traffic control, in-vehicle information to drivers about road conditions, in-car route guidance, automatic incident detection, automatic vehicle location, etc.
The first day of the conference is only for members of the RTI Focus group, set up in 1993 to provide a focal point for organizations involved in transport telematics. The day will examine the role of transport telematics in improving the environment, safety and efficiency.
The second day will concentrate on intelligent transport systems for the 21st century and the means to exploit the opportunities offered by transport telematics.
