EUFIT'97, the fifth European Congress on Intelligent Techniques and Soft Computing, will take place in Aachen, Germany, from 8 to 12 September 1997. The conference is being organized by the ELITE Foundation (European Laboratory for Intelligent Techniques Engineering).
The aim of EUFIT is to bring together scientists and practitioners from academic, governmental and industrial institutions to discuss new developments and results in the field of intelligent technologies. The conference will include scientific and applied presentations on fuzzy technology, neural networks and genetic algorithms. New developments, applications and products in these areas will also be demonstrated.
Participants will also have the opportunity to discuss and exchange new ideas and application experiences face to face and to establish contacts for future cooperation in business and/or research. In particular, the conference will provide an opportunity to find international partners for future collaboration in the framework of the European Network of Excellence for Fuzzy Logic and Uncertainty Modelling (ERUDIT), supported by the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Information Technologies (ESPRIT).
Topics to be covered by the conference include:
- Basics of fuzzy set theory and uncertainty modelling;
- Neural networks: basics and application;
- Genetic algorithms and evolutionary computing;
- Fuzzy sets in artificial intelligence;
- Neural fuzzy systems and learning;
- Fuzzy databases and information retrieval;
- Fuzzy control: methodology and applications;
- Decision support systems;
- Data analysis and signal processing;
- Pattern recognition and image processing;
- Applications in process industry and production planning;
- Applications in traffic and telecommunications;
- Medicine and biomedical applications;
- Financial engineering and forecasting;
- Software, hardware and standards;
- Panel discussions on intelligent applications in industry.
