A joint meeting of the Z39.50 Implementors Group (ZIG) and the European Forum for Implementors of Library Automation (EFILA) will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 19-22 August 1997. The meeting, which is being hosted by the Danish Library Centre, is supported by the European Commission within the framework of the Community's specific RTD programme in the field of Telematics Applications of common interest ("Telematics for Libraries" sector).

The ZIG-EFILA meeting will include a tutorial session introducing the essentials of the Z39.50 computer communications protocol for networked information retrieval, followed by general discussion of the problems and issues relating to its implementation and use. Presentations will be given by experienced European and American implementors. Proposed changes to the protocol will also be discussed.
